James Tyler Studio Elite Psychedelic Vomit
Quartersawn maple neck, mamywo body, Seymour Duncan Classic Stacks in neck and middle, Duncan JB Jnr. in bridge (all pickups custom-wound to Tyler specs), Sperzel locking tuners, Wilkinson USA VS100 tremelo bridge, Psychedelic Vomit finish. Formerly the Michael Landau signature model. Built in 1999.
This strat-style instrument is light, resonant and very responsive, allowing the player to easily articulate subtle shadings of touch, technique and emotion -- although the Psychedelic Vomit finish is anything but subtle. The combination of maple neck/fingerboard and mamywo body yields a creamy yet spanky tone, which accentuates the highs and mids without sounding brittle. A brilliant stage and studio guitar, the personality of this instrument is distinct with a harmonic character that gives it a unique, plaintive 'cry'. Due in part to the overall matte finish of the body and neck, it feels very organic and alive. A prime example of James Tyler's impeccable craftsmanship and uncanny ability to infuse vibe and soul into every instrument he builds.
